A homage to MK Čiurlionis in six chalk pictures.

What is it about
The six chalk pictures were created based on MK Čiurlionis Triptichon “Die Reise des Königsohnes”. Čiurlionis, der als Komponist und Maler tätig war, hat in manchen seiner Bildern zu einer frühen Abstraktion gefunden und steht andererseits dem Symbolismus nahe. Etappen sind Abschnitte einer Reise, und ähnlich wie die drei Etappen in “Die Reise des Königsohnes” zeigt meine Reise Aufbruch, Prüfung und Ankunft. Formal spiele ich mit Formen, die Čiurlionis durch seine Synästhesie in seinen Bildern geprägt hat. Die Bilder sind auch ein Nachklang auf meine Sammlung Cut, crush, condensein which I follow the traces of abstraction.
My homage to Čiurlionis is also a homage to the early history of abstraction.

Making of
Die Bilder entstanden in einer Session mit Kreidepulver auf einem mit Tafelfarbe bemaltem Brett. In schneller Folge entstanden Pinselstriche und Verwischung. Die Schritte habe ich ständig fotografiert und festgehalten, anschließend die Tafel gewischt – oder verwischt – und neue Formen gesucht. Es war ein Spiel mit der Aktion, auch ein wenig kalligrafisch – auf alle Fälle impulsiv und schnell.
The processing of the pictures was done later, digitally. Here I used the iPad using the app ProCreate. This combination enables me not to lose touch with the action while working digitally. It amazes me again and again how much joy such a digital painting studio can bring. Since the work is digital, I can only present it digitally or as a print.
