Signs of death, spook and life<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three photo series and three times the theme of the forest. The pictures selected here show a chipped or dead forest. In the series # branches<\/strong> it's about memory - what might once be a forest. broken<\/strong> realistically shows the result of the force of nature. The pictures of the series triage<\/strong> entstanden w\u00e4hrend des Corona – Lockdowns 2020 und schwanken zwischen Hoffnung und Unheils-Ahnung, sie stehen still in Sch\u00f6nheit. <\/p>\n\n\n

# branches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

#branches 16<\/strong>, the wood collage made of driftwood from 2015, is spooky and a little eerie, like in a laboratory with inlaid samples. I show the dead branches like old relics in a display collection. The windows with the wood fragments are reminiscent of bones or dried up veins - dead connection for something whose function we can only guess. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The versions painted over and washed out with brushstrokes are even more ghostly #branches 4<\/strong> and #branches 9<\/strong>. Here the windows grow together and become shadowy and fragmented memories of a unit that no longer functions. <\/p>\n\n\n

broken<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The photos were taken on a hike in 2019 broken 1-3<\/strong> after a severe storm, whereupon larger areas of forest had to be cleared. They are clippings of hills full of knocked branches, broken and sawed trunks. A depressing experience, compared to the #branches staged, a documentation of destruction by the force of nature, as it will occur more frequently due to the coming climate crisis. I have broken in the collection „Cut, Crush, Condens<\/a>e“<\/a> added because destruction in the sense of alchemy is part of the transformation to achieve something new. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement by broken is brutal, very real and shows the possible consequences of the transformation caused by the climate crisis. We definitely don't want to experience this - and we should do everything in our power to avoid it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

triage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The photos Triage 1-4<\/strong> entstanden im Fr\u00fchjahr 2020 w\u00e4hrend des Lockdowns beeinflusst von Corona und dem Begriff der Triage, damals aktuell in der Disskusion durch die dramatischen Ereignisse in Italien. Die Markierung der B\u00e4ume sind wahrscheinlich Zeichen f\u00fcr den Bestand der B\u00e4ume. Sie kennzeichnen wohl, ob ein Baum gef\u00e4llt werden soll oder ob Pflegema\u00dfnamhen n\u00f6tig sind, die genaue Bedeutung habe ich bisher nicht ausfindig machen k\u00f6nnen. Die abstrakten Zeichen entscheiden \u00fcber Leben oder Tod eines Baumes. Die Markierungen stehen im Kontrast zu zum organischen Wachstum, die Spannung zwischen Sch\u00f6nheit des Bildes und unheilbringender Aussage spiegelt meine Stimmung zu dieser Zeit erschreckend pr\u00e4zise wieder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, the trees are still there today.<\/p>\n\n\n
